THE MONUMENTAL TAPESTRY- TRILOGY,
INSPIRED BY DANTE "DIVINA COMMEDIA" is a demonstration of DESTINY, on 3 different levels.
Dante (14th Century), in his Divina Comedia is using the
Universe of Ptolemy and the philosophy of Plato:
the sensitive world exists as an imitation of the transcendental world.
My approach to Dante is seen in a 20th Century perspective, a subjective transfiguration of an atomic disaster (INFERNO), a surrealistic evocation of nostalgy for tenderness in a decayed world (PURGATORIO).
The basic concept of the project is the"KATARSIS", purification of the passions (Aristotle), a metamorphosis aiming to the highest degree of morality, at a superior interior balance, from hopelessness to reintegration into cosmic harmony (PARADISO).
