Bergen Bassmasters

Membership Information

To become a member of the Bergen Bassmasters a few requirements must be met in accordance to our club BY-Laws:

  • The angler must be a member of B.A.S.S. for insurance purposes.
  • Be voted on by the membership. Vote shall be by secret ballot and affirmation must be 2/3 of the members present.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Attend 2/3 of meetings and 2/3 of the club functions each year (exceptions are made in cases of senior members, the board will decide on exceptions).
  • Probationary, or junior members MUST attend 75% of functions in the first two years of their membership to remain in good standing.

Bergen has a limited number of roster spots available with the maximum membership being 36. The Bergen Bassmasters have been maintained at maximum membership since 1991. When an opening occurs, it is filled from the club's registered observer list based on a merit and participation.

Club Observers are anglers who register with the club. They are placed on the Bergen roster to the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, receive a club newsletter, receive a subscription to the BASS Times publication, and receive a subscription to the Fishing Line (NJ Federation's newsletter). Observers are welcomed to attend all club meetings and are often invited to fish the regular club tournaments as non-boaters but are elligible to win only the lunker prize. As stated earlier, all open spots are filled from the oberserver list. The average witing period to get into the the Bergen Bassmaaters is 1-2 years.
